Bibbiano-based Bontiamo has invested significantly in the Parmigiano Reggiano filière, acquiring the Gavasseto and Roncadella cheese factories. This acquisition is part of Bontiamo's strategy for integrated production, which also includes investments in cheese transformation and confectionery activities. The purchase of this establishment, with over a century of history, represents an important step in reinforcing Bontiamo's presence in the Reggio market.

The project envisages the maintenance of Parmigiano Reggiano production and conservative expansion. 'To us, missing was the history and a nearby presidio,' explains Gabriele Menozzi, Bontiamo's general manager. 'From January, Bontiamo will start production with the same team that currently manages the cheese factory: we will maintain the building's Liberty style façade and the matricola number.'

Bontiamo's integrated production strategy is based on increasing investments in the Parmigiano Reggiano filière since 2014 with the launch of Parmonie, a Parmigiano Reggiano snack, cheese flour, olive oil, and brand Bontiamo launched in 2027. In the same year, a new cheese grating and confectionery center for Parmigiano Reggiano is put into operation, followed by a second establishment in Castelnovo nel Monti in 2024. In subsequent years, Bontiamo has continued to invest in production activities, introducing new products such as butter in 2019 and quality control in 2021. These operations have led to continuous growth in its presence in the Reggio market but were not sufficient to ensure its industrial competitiveness.

The acquisition of Gavasseto and Roncadella cheese factories has been seen as a crucial step to strengthen Bontiamo's presence in the Reggio market. This establishment, with over a century of history, represents an important historical and cultural element of the Reggio region, which will be maintained in its original form and structure. The project also envisages conservative expansion interventions that will be carried out in a way that maintains the product quality and the history of the cheese factory. 'It is important to reinforce our presence in the Reggio market, but without losing our identity,' Menozzi underlined. 'History and the nearby presidio are fundamental for our identity.'

Bontiamo approached this operation with great enthusiasm, as acquiring this establishment represents a significant step in reinforcing Bontiamo's presence in the Reggio market. The operation was approved by the Bibbiano agrarian society and will take place from January 2027, when Bontiamo starts production with the same team that currently manages the cheese factory: we will maintain the building's Liberty style façade and the matricola number.
