On October 27, 2026, Cochin International Airport Ltd inaugurated the first international transit station in India using digital technology. This innovative technology has transformed the airport industry, demonstrating that companies can develop innovative solutions to improve customer service.

The CIAL (Cochin International Airport Ltd) introduced DigiYatra, a technology that allows passengers to proceed to their international flights without necessarily carrying physical identification documents. This new solution is based on exceptional facial recognition and digital passport technologies, which significantly reduce the number of documents needed for border control. This system, which was already available for domestic passengers, has been adapted to be used for international flights. Initially, only one-third of domestic passengers used DigiYatra, but this figure is rapidly increasing. The CIAL statistics show that the DigiYatra technology has been accepted by one-third of passengers who have used its service. The success of DigiYatra is not just a positive result for CIAL but also for the general aviation industry. CIAL has invested heavily in research and development, creating electronic software that could be used in other airports. The DigiYatra project has become an example of how companies can use technology to improve customer service and make travel easier and more efficient. Additionally, CIAL has launched a new service called Aviation Consultancy and Expert Services (ACES), which was launched by Kerala Chief Minister and CIAL President V D Satheesan. The ACES service will provide a passenger verification system developed in-house by CIAL, which will then be applied to all other Indian airports. CIAL has demonstrated that it is possible to develop innovative and technological solutions to improve customer service, showing that companies can rely on advanced technologies to gain competitive advantages in the global market.
