Hobbs and Whistles Chain of Stores' IT Attack Could Have Compromised Customer Privacy

The owner of the chain of stores has initiated a research to understand if the incident compromised the privacy of customers. The chain of stores, Hobbs and Whistles, had to conduct an investigation after a hacker attacked its IT infrastructure, allowing them to gain access to their clients' personal information. This was the second time that the chain of stores was involved in an IT-related incident, less than a week after Asos, another large online retailer, suffered from a cyber-attack. The owner of the chain of stores, Phase Eight, Hobbs and Whistles, stated that his websites and IT systems were damaged by a cyber attack that could have compromised customer data.

TFG London, the parent company of Hobbs and Whistles, has identified a 'security incident' affecting three major British retail chains—Inside Story, White Stuff, and Whistles—but not the other two chains, Inside Story and White Stuff. TFG stated that its warehouses have continued to open and conduct transactions, but some of its IT systems are 'disabled,' and it has suspended all online orders as a precautionary measure. It also said clients can only return items to the warehouse or request an email transfer for payment. In an email to customers of Hobbs and Whistles, the company declared that any order placed after October 11 could be delayed. Customers who had ordered before October 11 were processed normally.
