Critical readWhat happened. Companies are forced to purchase software upgrades that seem to improve their functionality, but in reality can lead to financial and cost issues. This trend is also evident in large enterprises where decisions to upgrade software are often viewed as beneficial from an operational efficiency standpoint, but are actually harmful for performance and business development.
The increasing problem of language lack and its consequences for operational efficiency. This phenomenon mainly occurs in enterprises with more than 10,000 employees, where IT is responsible for managing most technological solutions. According to a report published by Origina, one third of the responses (1,011) came from the United States, while the rest were from Great Britain.
Respondents worked on installations with at least $1 billion in annual revenue and were IT decision-makers or IT department heads of companies with at least 10,000 employees. The report, 'The Software Tax', highlighted that about half of the organizations had paid for upgrades, migrations, or license changes that they considered detrimental to operational efficiency. This phenomenon also manifests itself in large enterprises, where decisions to upgrade software are often viewed as beneficial from an operational efficiency perspective, but in reality can be harmful to performance and business development.
Another important aspect is that these software upgrade decisions have never been released in Italian language, but only in English versions or other foreign languages. This problem is due to the lack of professional translators or access limitations to technical terms necessary for IT decision-makers. According to an analyst, the lack of release in Italian can lead to financial problems and high costs, as well as competitiveness and innovation losses in the context of a large enterprise.
Finally, Origina has highlighted that the importance of releasing software in Italian language is increasing, especially in enterprises with more than 10,000 employees. This is due to the fact that enterprises are seeking to improve their operational efficiency through IT resource management, but cannot achieve this goal without good communication between IT decision-makers and the local IT team.
