An innovative approach to infrastructure and logistics problems

The NRRP gave rise to 10 system reforms, allowing to improve work efficiency and increase safety. But we are still not at the point of maximum satisfaction. Some priority interventions have been left as legacies, such as the Third Genoa-Milan Tunnel, the base gallery of Brenner (Bbt), Pontremolese, and the high-speed railway Salerno-Reggio Calabria line. The current challenge is completing these works, which require time and money. The Uniontrasporti have identified more than 190 priority interventions, including roads and highways, ports and airports. These works' perspectives are up to 2030, but improving people's mobility and logistics efficiency is still unfinished.

The Center-North is one of the most interesting points, where the investment value exceeds 50%. Prioritized works, such as the high-speed rail Salerno-Reggio Calabria line, the amelioration of State Highway 106 Jonica and the A2 Salerno-Reggio Calabria autostrada, the high-speed rail Palermo-Catania, the bridge over the Strait, have been identified by Uniontrasporti. These works are key to guaranteeing a significant economic and social transformation. The NRRP has had a positive impact on Italian mobility, but it was not sufficient to solve all problems. The goal is to transform this impetus into a structural policy on infrastructure, ensuring continuity in investments.

An innovative approach to infrastructure and logistics problems is necessary to reach our economic growth objectives. Confindustria's proposals are clear: a national framework for people and goods mobility; a quinquennal fund for strategic transport and logistics infrastructures; national resources to finance these works.

The NRRP represented an unprecedented accelerator. Now we need to transform this impetus into a structural policy on infrastructure, ensuring continuity in investments. The challenge is significant: in Italy, the transportation infrastructure needs estimated at around 55 billion euros by 2040. Observa Destro: 'An investment that no public source can support alone. Confindustria's proposals are clear: a national framework for people and goods mobility; a quinquennal fund for strategic transport and logistics infrastructures; national resources to finance these works.'
