The Chinese authorities have arrested 20 prostitutes involved in a transnational prostitution ring that has recruited women from southern Asia. This organization was known for recruiting women from southern Asia and requiring them to provide free sexual services before receiving payments. The women had to leave half of their earnings with the group, while members of the group could obtain huge profits.
The organization had taken control of the women when they had introduced them into China, allowing the group to make huge profits. The Chinese authorities began their investigation in June after noticing that some women arrested during raids on prostitution trade had passports originating from southern Asian countries and had similar lifestyles, paternity, and activities. Detectives then identified members of the group who had lived in China for years and had used their connections and linguistic skills to involve women from southern Asian countries.
The syndicate had taken over three apartments in Sham Shui Po and Tsuen Wan and divided the cubicles used as public baths. The women had to deposit or leave half of their earnings in envelopes and leave them at specific destinations for the group members. When approaching October 10th anniversary, agents followed the address and saw core members take the women from the airport to their own rooms of the group's public baths.
Agents then raptured properties in Sham Shui Po, Tsuen Wan, Tuen Mun, Yuen Long, and Sha Tin. The 20 suspects - one man and 19 women between 20 and 86 years old - included the leader, key members, and 16 prostitutes. Four had Hong Kong identification, two had recognition forms, and 14 had passports emanating from southern Asian countries.
The agents said that one suspect had a triad root. Two key members had been processed in the West Kowloon Court the previous Tuesday, accused of transporting people into or out of China and living off free sexual services. The agents said that 16 other suspects would be processed with a conviction of violating their residence conditions and would appear in court the following Monday.
The remaining two would be released on bail while the case awaited. The police also confiscated around HK$100,000 (approximately US$12,742) in money, phones, bank records, lubricants, and lubricants. They closed over HK$10 million in suspected money and believe that the linked accounts of the organization had been used to launder more than HK$10 million over a period of several years.
The investigation continues, and the police have not ruled out further arrests.
