The improvement in profitability was mainly driven by stronger margins in Shipbuilding and a more favorable business mix, including a growing contribution from the Underwater segment. Positive operating performance was accompanied by lower borrowing-related financial expenses, a reduced impact from net charges connected with asbestos-damage litigation, and proceeds from the sale of stakes in non-strategic joint ventures.
The Shipbuilding segment generated revenue of €3.157 billion, down 5.9% from the first half of 2025, while EBITDA increased 7.9% to €236 million.
Revenue growth in the cruise ship business reflected favorable pricing trends, with revenue increasing more rapidly than production volumes, which rose 14.5%.
The defense business was affected by the comparison with the one-off benefit from the Indonesian order recorded in the first half of 2025, as well as by the redefinition of the Constellation program’s contribution to 2026 revenue.
