Strategic collaboration for data centers, PCs, and AI-powered vehiclesNvidia has invested 3.5 billion dollars in convertible bonds issued by MediaTek, Taiwan, to strengthen a partnership covering data centers, personal computers, and AI-powered vehicles. This operation represents a significant step towards integrating accelerated computing technologies into the automotive sector. According to Nvidia, MediaTek will adopt the NVLink Fusion platform, allowing customers to develop custom AI chips integrated into rack-scale systems.
This innovation enables customization of connectivity, memory, and performance without relying solely on technologies provided by partners. The partnership aims to meet the needs of hyperscalers and cloud providers seeking specific XPU processors for complex workloads. Companies can customize packaging and performance characteristics while maintaining reliance on shared support technologies.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang declared that artificial intelligence transforms every computing platform, from the data industry to PCs and vehicles. MediaTek CEO Rick Tsai confirmed that the investment will strengthen cooperation spanning between cloud infrastructure and software-defined vehicles. The two companies will continue to develop successive generations of chips for the RTX Spark and DGX Spark platforms, targeting consumer computers and enterprise workstations.
The previous collaboration with the GB10 Grace Blackwell chip demonstrated the ability to combine Nvidia graphics processors with central processing units. In the automotive sector, companies plan to continue developing platforms for software-driven intelligent vehicles. MediaTek's Dimensity Auto systems incorporate Nvidia technologies for intelligent cockpits and can operate with the DRIVE AGX platform.
The ultimate goal is to expand AI computing from large data centers to computers and cars, supporting future generations of increasingly intelligent vehicles. Cooperation extends towards the integration of advanced computing technologies into production systems and consumer applications.
