Hong Kong is known for being one of the first global cities to launch AI programs. This success can be attributed to its strong industrial environment and fundamental ingredients for technological growth. Additionally, Hong Kong's government policies have been stimulated to promote the AI industry and improve local professional training. However, Hong Kong's ambition has not always been realized.

Some companies have had difficulty successfully introducing AI, especially when facing obstacles such as organizational resistance and outdated digital infrastructure.

According to a recent survey, most Hong Kong-based enterprises desire deeply that they use AI in their operations but many of these companies fail to turn it into reality.

Accenture's Hong Kong head has highlighted that while the country has ambitious goals for AI, there is still a lack of systematic approach to achieve them.

The analysis of the survey has highlighted that positive results have been obtained in terms of productivity and costs, but adapting AI to the specific needs of each company is still a challenge. The survey also highlights an aspect positively: companies in Hong Kong have set ambitious goals for integrating AI. Their projections foresee a 15% increase in production efficiency, a 14% rise in sales, a 14% improvement in customer service, and a 11% reduction in costs. However, only 12% of their projected AI integration has been realized, while only 3% of companies can fully integrate AI into their corporate strategies. Robert Hah, responsible for Accenture in Hong Kong, warned that it cannot be said with certainty whether this situation will change in the future.

Despite there being a great interest in AI, we cannot say that the entire city will be ready for the adaptation of AI. The main problem is not hardware or technological implementation, but rather organizational resistance and professional formation. Hong Kong has a favorable industrial environment for adapting AI, but the country needs a more systematic approach to transform these ambitions into reality. According to Hah, what matters is that companies truly prioritize their strategic initiatives and are prepared to face potential issues that may arise during the introduction of AI. The analysis of the survey shows strong willingness on the part of companies in Hong Kong to adopt AI but there is still a lack of systematic approach aimed at achieving this objective.

The country has a strong desire to use AI in its activities, but it still lacks a systematic approach to turn that desire into reality.
