A Labour MP who launched legal action against Elon Musk’s xAI over false, sexualised images generated by Grok claims the artificial intelligence tool was instructed to operate “without restrictions on adult sexual content or offensive content.”

On Tuesday, lawyers representing Jess Asato published the court filing in the case. It included details of publicly disclosed instructions that, according to the claim, show Grok was trained to generate harmful sexualised content. The instructions nevertheless prohibit child sexual abuse material.

Asato sued xAI after saying the company’s chatbot had been used to create false images depicting her. The filing alleges that, on some occasions, Grok independently added explicit material that users had not requested.

The Labour MP for Lowestoft said: “No woman or child should have to live in fear that their face or body could be taken, sexualised and shared around the world by an AI system without their consent.

“What happened to me was not an accident. Musk chose to profit from harm and trained Grok to abuse.

“xAI must be held accountable for the harm it has caused and continues to cause, so that other women and children do not have to face what I experienced.”
