Fondazione CDP and Intesa Sanpaolo launch three new projects for the South. The third edition of the 'Cultural Ecosystems in Southern Italy' grant was launched to regenerate areas in the South, expanding the territorial scope beyond Campania, Puglia, Basilicata, Calabria, Sicily, and Sardinia. The measure is intended for municipalities with a population between 5,000 and 100,000 inhabitants, which can access financial resources for the promotion and reactivation of public buildings of significant local interest.

The resources finance projects aimed at the promotion and reactivation of public buildings through cultural, artistic, social, and naturalistic activities. The logic is that of an investment with multiple returns: recovering a good means creating a place of aggregation, but also activating skills, services, and opportunities for communities. Three projects, three models of valorization, were selected in the new edition, located in Basilicata, Puglia, and Abruzzo.

In Basilicata, 'Monastic Workshops', promoted by the 131 Basilicata Symphony Orchestra, intervene on the material and intangible heritage of the Union of the Val Camastra-Basento municipalities. The 'Monastic Workshops' project aims to valorize the material and intangible heritage of the Union of the Val Camastra-Basento. The initiative involves not only cultural institutions but also the third sector and local communities to collaborate around a historical good.

The goal is to create an impact that goes beyond the single intervention of recovery, generating cultural activities, training, and socio-employment inclusion for people in conditions of fragility. The collaboration between public administrations and the third sector is fundamental to transforming the past into assets for territorial development. The third edition introduces an expansion of the territorial scope, first addressing municipalities of Abruzzo and Molise, included in the Special Economic Zone for the South.

This approach represents a significant step forward towards social inclusion and the contraction of marginalization phenomena affecting various areas of the South. The data indicate that the measure is destined for one million euros to support initiatives capable of transforming public cultural heritage into a factor of growth for territories. The Fondazione CDP, a non-profit entity of the CDP Group, promotes the initiative with the participation of Intesa Sanpaolo through the Impact Division of the Territorial Bank.
