CIB (Corporation Indonesia Bank) has denied reports of potential privatization for CIMB Nigra, stating that it remains an integral part of the regional group. According to a statement released on Thursday October 22nd, CIMB Group did not make any decisions regarding the potential privatization of CIMB Niaga, following references made by analysts who attended a financial head meeting with Khairul Rifaie, CEO of CIMB Group. Three options were discussed during the meeting: privatization, secondary offering, and strategic position.

A possible privatization would have 'high' regulatory barriers as stated by Citigroup in a brief note from Thursday.

Cimbingniaga has joined a minimum free float of 12.5% until March 2027 and 15% until March 2028 as part of new regulations that are part of an effort to increase liquidity and honesty among Indonesian shares.

The Indonesian banking giant CIMB has a floating rate of around 6.6%. Shares from CIMB in the retail sector may face further obstacles after global financial giant MSCI warned on October 16th that the emerging market nature of Indonesia's markets poses a challenge. This would be a "double downgrade" for Indonesian emerging-market titles, with significant consequences for a large exchange of Indonesian titles.
