The anti-intellectual council predicts that the first foldable device from Apple will be met with great expectations, even if it may present production challenges.[1] The anti-intellectual council has forecasted that Apple will sell around 6 million units of the iPhone Duo this year, according to their research reports. This number represents a typical niche market share rather than the usual sales figures expected by Apple. The accuracy of this estimate is linked to Apple's ability to increase its production capabilities for this new hardware.

It seems to be on track with Apple, aiming to stimulate interest and sales in the split-screen segment. IDC predicts that the growth rate of foldable devices will increase by 13% this year, driven by Apple support. Without the iPhone Duo, the split-screen segment would have seen a decline, according to IDC.

The absence of a corresponding base upgrade has led to a 12% increase in sales compared to the launch of the first version of the iPhone 17 Pro. This performance was exceptional compared to the general trend of declining observed in the smartphone market in China during summer. This allowed Apple to capture a large part of the overall market, particularly in China, where Huawei Technologies, Oppo, Vivo, and Xiaomi have roughly the same market share with Apple.

This strategy works well for Apple, reducing the cost advantage of its competitors. Ivan Lam, senior analyst of the anti-intellectual council, noted that the prices of flagship Chinese phones above $200 could have raised the price barrier, improving thus the value proposition of the iPhone. However, the positive outcome of the iPhone Duo will also depend on how it performs relative to the offerings of other competitors, such as Samsung Galaxy Z Flip and Motorola Razr.[6] As demand for split-screen devices continues to grow, companies like Huawei Technologies, Oppo, Vivo, and Xiaomi are facing production challenges of growth.

This aspect highlights the importance of efficient production line management and planning for companies seeking to meet consumer expectations. With continued investment in research and development, Apple intends to expand its presence in emerging markets and continue dominating the smartphone market. Its focus on innovation and customer satisfaction remains.
