Critical readWhat happened. On my mother's 1st birthday on December 1, 2026, I received a news that deeply touched me. It was the news of an accident of transportation that caused the death of my father, a man of great career in my family.
On June 20, 2026, during a trip with my family, we crossed the Bedford Bridge. At that moment, our bus was speeding towards the destination. But despite the speed, we were not stopped by traffic lights.
A day later, on June 19, while driving a train of East Midlands Railway, I received an immediate warning when I passed a red traffic light. However, my train continued to accelerate before stopping in front of another waiting train near Bedford. That evening, I arrived home and discovered that my father had died in a railway accident.
Despite my concern for my parents, I decided to make a reconciliation trip with them. I called the police and ambulance to help me find the shortest way to my father's house. While on the way, I saw a speeding train of East Midlands Railway that had passed a red traffic light.
Although the traffic light was red, the train was still moving. Later, I found out that other trains of East Midlands Railway had also received immediate warnings when passing red traffic lights, but they did not stop their trains. 160 people suffered from the crash, which caused many victims. This transportation accident has become one of the four train collisions with passengers in the United Kingdom since 2020, after a decade without similar serious incidents.
It is important to remember that these transportation accidents can be very hard and devastating, but there are always possibilities to improve train and bus safety through research and knowledge.
The news that matters, every morning.
